Practicum for Volume 2, Chapter 2, "More output does not mean more value"

An outcome comes from a process with verification and the right metric, not from the volume of output. Build rules around people rather than against them.

What to do in 20 minutes

  1. Choose one process and list its 5 to 7 tasks.
  2. Put them through the Human Review Matrix. Decide what AI can do alone, what needs review, and what remains human.
  3. For each task that needs review, mark the layer of the control loop and one flow metric instead of an output-volume metric.

Who this is for

  • Specialist: identify where AI works alone, where it needs supervision, and where only you can act.
  • Manager: place verification and name the person who owns the decision.
